Our first date was on St. Patrick's Day 1978. We celebrated that day every year after that. It was our special day. 38 years ago today - green beer and sparkles. It still brings a smile. What a wonderful day.
I love you, Sweetheart!
On March 15, 1980, John moved in with me and our life together started in earnest.
The Ides of March were good for us. John always called that day Bunkie Day and we celebrated it every year. Bunkie became one of his nicknames for me. I cherish that name.
John made dinner for us that day to celebrate.
We had a wonderful life and I am so grateful.
I can't wait until it resumes.
Country singer Rory Feek passed away yesterday afternoon. I have been following her story through her husband's blog and his love for her is so strong and his sadness so heartbreaking. She recorded this song a few years ago and now it has come true.
I still remember that first night and next morning that is talked about in the song. It was horrible.
Today is my birthday. A few days ago I asked John for a sign from him for my birthday. I wasn't asking for anything big. But John always brought me flowers. He knew I loved getting flowers from him.
So I asked John for flowers. And so that I would know they were from him, I asked for pink roses, my favorite. But to make it easier, I told him they didn't have to be real. Even just a picture of pink roses would do.
I got my roses.
On three different occasions, totally unrelated to each other, pictures of pink roses were posted to my Facebook feed. And to make it even more special, when the first one posted, I actually got a whiff of rose scent in the air.
Thank you, John. I love you.
