This morning in the first few seconds of awakening, I thought John was still here. That realization that he is not is still awful.
Grief changes us. This blog is about my journey from loss to peace, learning to see the world anew, but never leaving my soul mate behind.

4 years 11 months
In one month it will be 5 years since John passed.
This morning in the first few seconds of awakening, I thought John was still here. That realization that he is not is still awful.

Today
Today is a weird day for me.
When John died he was 67 years and 41 days old.
Today I am 67 years and 41 days old.
Tomorrow I will be on this planet longer than John was.
I can't explain why that feels strange to me but it does.
And I wish it weren't so.

John's Memorial Garden
Some of the cacti are blooming in John's Memorial Garden. They are so pretty. It's hard to believe the Garden is almost 4 years old already. I planted in honor of John's one year anniversary.

Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart!
John and I had our church wedding today 27 years ago. Since we had already been married [by a JP] 7 years earlier, there wasn't as much nervousness associated with the day. We just enjoyed the heck out of it. We talked about that day with fondness for the rest of our life together. It was a great party. We were so happy.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, my Love!
St. Patrick's Day was our day. We had our first date on St. Patrick's Day 37 years ago. It was our own special day that we celebrated every year. Thank you for a wonderful life together, John.
